Strangford Lough Yacht Club

Whiterock, County Down

Replacement of Existing Clubhouse on the shores of Strangford Lough.

The Project was completed in August 1999 and involved the demolition and replacement of an outdated and inefficient clubhouse. The redesign of the clubhouse was undertaken within very tight budgetary and time constraints, the simple and economical design being enhanced with the use of curved walls and roofline. The new building has made use of the foundations and basement of the former 1920's building. The contemporary new clubhouse sits modestly on the waters edge at Whiterock on Strangford Lough and we understand it is well accepted locally, set on this sensitive shoreline.

The new ground floor level was raised approx.1m above his former level, to mitigate against future rising sea levels, as insightfully briefed by our clients.
